If you know anything about SEO, then you are already familiar with keywords and their importance. What we are going to discuss today is why you should use some long-tail keywords in your content.

Long-tail keywords are made up of several words together. There is a difference between conducting an online search for “internet marketing” and “small business internet marketing.” The first term brings back 44 million hits on Google, while the second one only has 75,000 hits. Which one do you think would be easier to get a high ranking with? If you said the one with fewer hits, then you would be right.

Another reason why you will want to include long-tail keywords in your content is that people who are closer to making a decision to buy are more likely to use long-tail keywords to do online research. By the time they have narrowed down what they want to buy to a specific model, color, or version, they have done quite a bit of research. They know what they are looking for, and now they want to find a company or an individual who can provide it to them.

If you have included long-tail keywords in your content, then the people who are ready to make a purchase are more likely to find your site. These are the site visitors you want to attract. Putting up big traffic numbers may seem impressive, but what really counts is your conversion rates, as in how many of your site visitors actually buy from you. Plan to add some long-tail keywords to your content and watch your sales increase accordingly.
